While in high school, Kimberly Togliatti-Trickett suffered two knee injuries that required extensive physical therapy. Due to this experience, Kimberly attended the University of Toledo where she earned her Bachelor's of Science in Physical Therapy. After receiving her degree, she realized how much more there was to learn, so she enrolled in medical school at the University of Cincinnati and trained at Metro Health Medical Center where she gained a dual certification in Physiatry and Internal Medicine. In 2002, Dr. Trickett founded Independence Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy offering physical therapy and complimentary medical services to Northeast Ohio residents. We visited with Dr. Trickett recently, and listened as she described the services her practice offers;

Independence Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy is a small, hometown practice focused on providing our patients with very personalized hands-on care. We offer medical care of muscular and skeletal problems, including back, neck, joint, and limb care. We offer post stroke care, stroke rehabilitation, and spinal cord rehabilitation both in our office and at Parma General Hospital. In addition, we provide on-site physical therapy that helps speed our patients' recovery under the direct review of a board certified physician.

My practice includes a combination of medical treatment for muscular and skeletal problems, and physical therapy to provide increased mobility and relief from the pain caused by injury or stress. As a Physiatrist, I offer electromyography and nerve conduction testing to diagnose carpel tunnel syndrome, pinched nerves in the neck or back, or nerve damage from a variety of other causes. I accept patients for physical therapy both with and without a referral from their personal physician.

My goal is to educate patients in effective strategies for managing their muscular and skeletal challenges, and to improve the overall quality of their health. Rather than automatically recommending surgical options, I take a more conservative approach by teaching my patients not only why they are experiencing pain, but how to manage the discomfort while correcting and improving their condition.
