At seven years of age Daniel M. Pisaneschi began helping his father lay concrete during the summer. When his father semi-retired in 1972, Daniel became responsible for the day-to-day operations of Mardan Cement. Dan Pisaneschi, Jr. joined his father in business in the mid-1980s, and over the past twenty years the father and son team have built Mardan Cement into one of the most respected concrete contracting firms in Cuyahoga County. We visited with Daniel recently, and listened as he described the services offered by Mardan Cement;

Mardan Cement is a full-service concrete installation contractor specializing in pouring residential patios, garage floors, driveways, sidewalks, basements, steps, and footers for room additions. We remove and replace existing concrete, and perform the associated excavating and backhoe work. Throughout the winter months when it is too cold to install concrete, we utilize our trucks by offering snow removal services.

Mardan Cement enjoys a long history of pride in our workmanship. Each year we are licensed, insured, and bonded to work in 25-28 cities in Cuyahoga County. We own a wide range of equipment required in our industry, including our own trucks, bobcats, excavators, compressors, jackhammers, and power buggies. Once we quote a figure for performing a particular job, the price never changes unless the customer makes additions to the amount of work to be done.

We perform both complete and partial replacements. An increasing number of cities now require homeowners to replace damaged blocks of concrete in their sidewalks and driveways. We complete the needed repairs, including laying a new sub-base. We use crushed, recycled concrete to build a base, install wire grids to reinforce the concrete, and cure and seal all of our concrete to eliminate the potential of problems arising in the future.

Concrete takes twenty-eight days of forty degree temperatures to cure properly. If concrete is not cured properly, blistering and premature cracking can threaten the integrity of the surface. In Northeast Ohio we can normally pour driveways until the middle of October, and in normal years we can pour smaller projects until the middle of November.
